SPEED MAKING. Part 2.

Now, for speed making part.2 I found a block of resin cast that I did last semester as a sample. It was cast with lego in it. I cut the block and I found this interesting 'pattern', almost - from the lego casted in it. And so I decided to cut three block strips drill a hole in each, file them a bit, smooth it a bit, then tied it together with thread.... voila! it's a neckpiece!

SPEED MAKING. Part 1.

So, school starts. and Speed Making is the first project given. It involves experimenting with materials that are unusual to you and we are required to do 1 object a day for 14 days.

Anyway, The first objects explores how rubber band works by twisting, stretching and eventually layering.
I tied this rubber bands to these plastic objects and somehow I attached them together. Not sure if it was the 'tacky' (can't think of another word, it's this feel that you get from rubber) quality of the rubber that stick them together or not. Some physics brain need to tell me what's happening there.

Oh, and also, stretching would change the colour of the rubber. So there's a bit of a change in colour there.

With these ones below, Rubber Band is definitely a one way to attach things together. The surprise is, it never tied together in the form you wanted to.

You know, I love surprises.

Enamelling

Let me introduce my Enamel now!
Images of brooches here are my first enamels. As we all know colours is my 'essentials', I found that enamel has enabled me to achieve them. Also, I found it successful to enhance other materials I am using.

Rings Rediscovery

It was such a good fun when I was cleaning my accessory boxes and discovered all these chunky rings I used to collect before I got into Gold and Silversmithing course. *These rings are one of the reasons why I want to do jewellery. Pretty much.

These are my favourite ones, they're from House of Baulch, Elke Kramer, Mimco, and a Melbourne vintage jeweller (I don't remember the designer's name - bought it at sportsgirl)

Plaster and Wire Works

These plaster  and a little bit of wire works were done as part of a Sculpture elective subject that I was doing last semester.

Plaster was too white for me, it was too monotone. I think it's just me, I can't live with no colour at all.
So I did a few experiments to give colour to some of my objects. One of the most successful experiment was casting found colourful objects together with the plaster powder.
